I work with a small team (3 people) on projects together. We have tried both Asana and Monday for project management and ultimately found them to be unnecessary. It was additional work to add tasks and links plus it was another location to check and keep updated.
We now keep it simple. We use a shared Google drive with folders for each project. For each project, we have a project planning sheet (overview) which lists all key parts of the project and due dates. Then we have folders for meetings, training curriculum (we develop teacher trainings), management (orientation docs, agreements, etc), and marketing (photos, fliers, etc).
A simple system seems to be the best solution for us – saves money too.
Hi Sharon. Thanks for sharing your experience. I agree that simpler options tend to be the ones we actually end up using, especially for smaller teams and projects. I now start with the simplest possible solution that helps me achieve my goals, which tends to be a plain text document. If you get to a point where the team (or project) grows in scope and the simple solution no longer works effectively, you can add features (i.e. complexity) as necessary.
