Thanks Michael,
Lately, my emails have been quite a bit of conflict resolution and crisis management and it has meant that I actually needed to park the email and give myself time to curate my thoughts. This gives me time to come back to the mail and thoughtfully compose a response in a constructive manner that invites respondents to co-create a solution. This has taken me a while to get the hang of and it is never a perfect blend- but I am a work in progress.
Regards
SI have a tendency to want to respond quickly to those kinds of emails, and I’ve recognised that it’s because I want to move the email out of my inbox. When I bounce it back quickly, it does the job of getting it out of my head. However, it often does little to resolve the issue. And then we’re playing email tennis, where we’re just moving the problem back and forth. As you say, it’s useful to leave it for a little while and then to respond in a more considered way.
